David Sabelis (2001) is een veelzijdige zorgvuldige spelende maker met een focus op shortfilm en muziekvideo’s. Hij maakt zich werkzaam op het gebied van regie, artistieke directie, beeldende kunst en videomontage. Hij rondt in 2026 zijn studie af op de performance-opleiding aan de Toneelacademie in Maastricht. Typerend aan zijn werk is de dualiteit van het zonnige en weemoedige in nostalgie en melancholie. Terugkerende visuele elementen zijn de natuur, ernstige of onschuldige gezichten, kleurrijke figuren en landschappen. Zijn beelden verwijzen naar een innerlijk kind dat iedereen bij zich draagt. Herinneringen naar het buiten zijn zonder zorgen en plezier in speelsheid. Een bitterzoete verbinding tussen vroeger en nu. In zowel zijn werkproces als zijn producten ligt de nadruk op het plezier en de vrijheid van het maken van kunst. Verhalen met een kleine kern van tederheid. De boodschap en actualiteit is voor hem niet een vertrekpunt, maar het verhaal wat ieder mens met zich meedraagt en zal ontplooien in het maken. Zijn drijfveer is simpelweg het genot van het maken. Kunst om kunst is niet oppervlakkig, want kunst draagt zelf al een noodzaak. Daarmee hoopt hij te verbinden en zijn publiek warmte te geven. “Ik wil dingen maken waar ik mensen een fijn gevoel mee geef.”
