Birsu Tamer (2000, Den Haag) is actrice, theater- en filmmaker en schrijver. Ze studeerde Taalwetenschap (Universiteit Leiden) en studeert dit jaar af aan de acteursopleiding. Ze is diep gefascineerd door de psyche van de mens die de dupe is van de wereld waar die in leeft. Machtstructuren, politieke ontwikkelingen, gezinsstructuren, de geschiedenis, toeval en puur geluk - ze toont de perverse mens en ontkleedt die met haar grootste wapens: humor, intellect en lichtheid. Haar goede technische beheersing van (zang-)stem en talen, haar grillige impulsen en haar muzikaliteit maken haar een boeiende speler. Als maker schrijft ze teksttheater met een filmisch en absurd randje. 

Ze speelde o.a. bij HNTJONG, WIJ ZIJN DOX, danste semiprofessioneel bij Korzo Theater. Binnenkort maakt ze haar filmdebuut als acteur. Ze wil later én graag in andermans werk staan, én als maker werkzaam zijn. Nu schrijft ze bijvoorbeeld voor Toneelgroep Maastricht, maakte dit jaar haar regie- en scenario debuut met de shortfilm Hangman & Co. ( nu te zien in Canada, Cyprus, Nederland, etc.). 

Dit jaar debuteerde ze op Festival Cement met haar zelfgeschreven afstudeervoorstelling ‘Constantinopel, 2050’. Deze voorstelling werd geproduceerd door Festival Cement x Via Zuid i.s.m. Suburbia, en zal hernomen worden in seizoen 26/27. In juli 2026 is ze te zien in ‘Iedermens’ van Toneelgroep Maastricht, in regie van Michel Sluysmans.

Birsu Tamer (born 2000, The Hague) is an actress, theatre- and filmmaker, and writer. She studied Linguistics at Leiden University and graduates the acting programme at the Theatre Academy this year. She is deeply fascinated by the human psyche, which is at the mercy of the world in which it exists. Power structures, political developments, your family life and upbringing, historical developments, chance and fate—she exposes the perverse human nature and strips it bare with her greatest weapons: humor, intellect, and lightness. Her sensitivity to language, language proficiency skills, her capriciousness, and musicality make her a strong technical performer. As a creator, she writes text-based theater with a cinematic and absurd vibe.

She has performed with HNTjong and WIJ ZIJN DOX, among others, and danced semi-professionally at Korzo Theater. She will soon make her film debut as an actor. She hopes to appear in others’ work in the future and to work as a creator.
Currently, she writes for Toneelgroep Maastricht, and this year made her directorial and screenwriting debut with the short film Hangman & Co. (now screening in Canada, Cyprus, the Netherlands, etc.).
This year she debuted at Festival Cement with her self-written graduation performance ‘Constantinople, 2050’. This performance was produced by Festival Cement x Via Zuid in collaboration with Suburbia, and will be revived in the 26/27 season. In July 2026, she will appear in “Iedermens” by Toneelgroep Maastricht, directed by Michel Sluysmans.
