Dick Kingma (2003) is toneelspeler en theatermaker en muzikant. Hij genoot zijn vooropleiding theater bij de Noorderlingen en dans bij Lucia Marthas, allebei in Groningen. In 2026 studeert hij af aan de performanceopleiding van de Toneelacademie Maastricht. Deze brede opleiding neemt hij volop mee in zijn interdisciplinaire werkpraktijk.

Hij maakt theater dat het grote gebaar niet schuwt, is vaak gul en maximalistisch in zijn spel en maakt gretig gebruik van de uiteenlopende mogelijkheden die theater te bieden heeft. Steevast is hij op zoek naar echt contact met zijn publiek. Hij doorbreekt de 4e wand. Spreekt zijn publiek direct aan en lokt een reactie uit. Hij hoopt mensen te activeren en (terug) in de wereld te brengen. In hun lijf en in hun gevoel. Zo voelen mensen zich na een voorstelling van hem net wat meer mens. Als zelfbenoemde clown staat hij in voor de lach evenals de traan en breekt hij een lans voor het belang van de verwondering, altijd vanuit een open oprechtheid. Grootse vormen zijn hierin voor hem de sleutel. Als mens heeft Dick het aanhoudende verlangen om open te breken, het achterste van zijn tong te laten zien en van zich te laten horen. Zo doorbreekt hij op het toneel en ver daarbuiten de alledaagse sleur en geeft je een inkijkje in zijn een kleurrijke, luide en liefdevolle wereld. 

De afgelopen jaren maakte hij onder andere zijn eigen kleinkunstvoorstelling, speelde in meerdere kleine musicals, locatie- en poppentheatervoorstelling en tourde met muziektheatercollectief: Friends of Dorothy’s en Welkom in de Middeleeuwen van Niek Barendsen

In al deze projecten zijn thema’s van liefde, verwondering en zelfbevrijding alom aanwezig. Hij hoopt met zijn werk mensen ervan te doordringen dat de wereld mooi en groot is en laat je voelen dat je nooit alleen bent. Hij hoopt troostrijk te zijn en mensen te inspireren om groots en meeslepend te leven.

Dick Kingma (2003) is an actor, theatre maker, and musician. He completed his preliminary theatre training at De Noorderlingen and dance at Lucia Marthas, both in Groningen. In 2026, he will graduate from the performance program at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. He fully incorporates this broad education into his interdisciplinary professional practice.
He creates theatre that does not shy away from grand gestures, is often generous and maximalist in his acting, and makes eager use of the diverse possibilities that theatre has to offer. He is invariably seeking genuine contact with his audience. He breaks the fourth wall. He addresses his audience directly and elicits a reaction. He hopes to activate people and bring them (back) into the world. Into their bodies and into their feelings. As a result, people feel just a little more human after one of his performances. As a self-proclaimed clown, he guarantees laughter as well as tears and champions the importance of wonder, always from a place of open sincerity. Grand forms are the key to this for him. As a person, Dick has a persistent desire to break free, to speak his mind, and to make himself heard. In doing so, he breaks the daily routine on stage and far beyond, giving you a glimpse into his colorful, loud, and loving world.

In recent years, he has created his own cabaret show, performed in several small musicals, site-specific and puppet theater productions, and toured with music theater collectives Friends of Dorothy’s and Welkom in de Middeleeuwen by Niek Barendsen.
In all these projects, themes of love, wonder, and self-liberation are ever-present. Through his work, he hopes to impress upon people that the world is beautiful and vast, and to make you feel that you are never alone. He hopes to be comforting and to inspire people to live a grand and passionate life.
